Ant Facts

Ants are one of the more fascinating creatures we have looked into in our quest for natural power sources. Found almost universally around the globe, the Ant is the Hercules of insects; able to lift 20 times it's own body weight. Thank god they are as small as they are.

Ants life cycle is relatively short @ 45-60 days. They live in very complex and highly structured colonies or galleries, usually underground or in trees and stumps. They are both hearty and able to adapt to most situations. This is one reason they were chosen as our first choice for Environmental jewelry.

Ants are generally predators and particularly territorial. In others words, don't screw around in their backyard, or a hundred of them will come after you. We realized just how territorial when we were making quality control and safety tests on the Ant Bracelet. Ants have NO FEAR, and will take on anything and anyone who invades their space.

I know, you've read this far and are still waiting to hear something funny or mildly macabe. Guess what?...There is nothing funny about ants. They have zero personality. They don't scream when you step on them. They don't try to run away from you when you approach so there is no "chase factor". They are common as dirt. And they don't screw with you head like flies and gnats, who can take a perfectly beautiful summers day and destroy it . Remember the Iraqis trying to shoot down the cruise missiles over Bagdad. All that commotion and energy for naught. Same thing trying to swat flies outside.

Anyway, Ants are just sort of there. Except of course the Fire Ants. These little titans are not only aggressive, fearless and tenacious, they hurt. Many of our friends from down south have advised us to put a warning label on the Ant Bracelet ( no doubt for liability purposes) warning against the use of Fire Ants. NO WAY ! Any one stupid enough to get within 20 feet of these things without the intent to do bodily harm, deserves whatever they get.

I do have to admit, that watching the interaction of ants within a confined space , although rather nerdy, is fairly fascinating. The organization, communication and determination ( al ot of "tions" in this sentence ) is a marvel to behold. Maybe we could learn something from these little guys after all.

Anyway, if you have any Ant Facts you would like tyo share with the rest of the world, drop us a line. We will post them here and you can save us the trouble of having to do the research, because we really don't give a damn.
